Starvation and desperation made an elderly man call 911. After being released from the hospital, a 81 year old man didn’t have food inside his house and made a 911 call to ask for food.
Being hungry can sometimes make you reach for desperate measures and this elderly man knows it best.
Clarence Blackmon, a 81 years old veteran from North Carolina, picked up the phone and made a heartbreaking 911 call, as he found himself in an incredible situation. The elderly man, called 911 and told the dispatcher that he was hungry and he had no food and no one to help him buy some.
The man had recently returned to his home from North Carolina after spending months in the hospital where he was undergoing a cancer treatment.
After returning home, he realised there was nothing to eat inside his house and he was unable to go outside the get the food for himself as he was too weak.
Desperate and starving, the man decided that the only way he was going to find help was to call 911.So he did. According to reports, the 81 year old, had a talk with the dispatcher, explained his situation and asked for help.
In his own words, he told them that he desperately needed someone that would go to the grocery store, buy some food and bring it to his house as he was starving and needed to ea. He added that their help would be highly appreciated because he was unable to move or to go and buy the food on his own feet. Blackmon told them he was mobilise din his wheelchair.
The operator who handled the call, Marilyn Hinson was incredibly moved by the call of the old man and decided to help him herself. She went to the supermarket and bought him food supplies. With the help of local police officers, the food was delivered to the man’s house.
What made her do the gesture personally was the fact that she cannot handle people being hungry and not having what to eat, as her, herself has been in the situation where she had no food to put on the table. Not having what to eat is not something few people can related to, but she does, stated Hinson.
After arriving to his house, the woman made him sandwiches and started putting the groceries she bought inside his fridge. When Blackmon saw that someone had actually come to bring him food, he considered it was a miracle from above.
From now on, it appears that he will be helped by a home health nurse who will be visiting him two times per week.
