The Internet has been into a frenzy ever since Arnold Schwarzenegger’s pragmatic stand on climate changes was first made public. The Hollywood star does not give a damn about who is right or wrong on climate change, but thinks green energy is all about making the best investment.
Inspired by the recent talks on climates change at the Paris Summit, Arnold Schwarzenegger published a post on his Facebook page letting people know his stand on the matter. According to the former California governor, people spend too much time arguing who is wrong/right about increasing pollution, instead of actually doing something.
Those, who do not want to get involved in climate change discussions, criticize scientists’’ warnings by saying that such reports are fake. In their opinion, it is very unlikely for the Antarctic ice shelf to melt as temperatures will eventually balance themselves out. Yet, facts may be put down in black and white: increasing more people and animal species die as a result of high pollution rates.
It was this particular aspect that Arnold Schwarzenegger chose to focus on in his post. He told his followers that thousands of adults and children live in miserable conditions as a result of pollution. Most of these people don’t survive and these facts cannot be denied by any scientific debates.
For this reason, it is important to keep the Earth clean and reduce fossil fuel consumption, he concluded. Schwarzenegger went on to speak about investments in fossil fuels and renewable energy. He compared the current situation to a failing business plan, given the diminishing fossil fuel resources. He urged companies to come up with new plans so they would not be the last people investing in Blockbuster as Netflix emerges.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s speech targeted mainly climate change non-believers. The former actor asked them to imagine two rooms, one with a car running on fossil fuels and another one with an electric vehicle. Schwarzenegger told his followers he will choose the second room as staying in the room with an electric vehicle is not dangerous.
These are the questions that pragmatic people should answer if they are not willing to lend an ear to climate change discussions. Hopefully, the examples that Arnold Schwarzenegger has enumerated will be better understood by the group of indifferent people. The actor hopes these will convince people to get involved in the fight against climate change, regardless whether they believe it or not.
