The new Blackphone 2 might not be the first choice for active and professional looking people. They usually want a secure smart phone for data-sensitive emails and communication. This avoidance comes despite the fact that Google has designed, improved and marketed Android’s protection options.
Many companies still use previous BlackBerry gadgets or are already working with iPhones and their iOS platform for better cyber-security.
Silent Circle is one of the countless Android developers on the market and now presents a product aimed to improve the security of private information: the Blackphone 2.0. Already at its second generation, this new model of unbreakable smart phone has just been launched in US stores. However, its source site has been applying a pre-production design for quite a while.
The Blackphone 2 does not stand apart with its hardware or software capabilities. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 405 for optimum resolution. There is also a 5.5” HD display covered by a thick layer of Gorilla Glass 3 and 32GB of expandable storage. Its MicroSD card can support extra 128GB for high-res movies or large audio files.
The product has LTE networking, 3G HSPA options, dual band for Bluetooth and WiFi. For best image and video recording, its 13MP back camera and 5MP front-facing one are powered by a 3,060 mAh battery. This hefty battery can be recharged at any time via its QuickCharge 2.0 feature.
The gadget works with Silent OS 2.0, a system centered on Android 5.1. with some variations created for security purposes. It has a price of $800 and a one-year warranty for Silent Circle secure communication support.
The Blackphone 2 is a lot better than its predecessor when it comes to overall appearance. It has a smooth and well-made design, and all these enhanced features are supported by important developments under a solid case.
Such software enhancements come after Silent Circle’s years of rebranding. The company has improved its secure text and voice features during all this time. In addition, it changed the NVIDIA components integrated into the previous version of the Blackphone.
The new model is based on Qualcomm Snapdragon technology, enforced with Quiet Circle’s complete package of security programs and services. For extra data protection of current users, this set of protection measures will be extended to previous models and other clients of the conventional Silent Circle application for Android and iOS.
The new technology is basically an end-to-end communication service between its users and the client support and it can function in two different modes. The fully secured method works between two Silent Phone users, while a regular secured mode functions between the Silent Circle app and a normal number.
The latter option encrypts the calls for the secured end of the communication rather than all end-to-end conversations, so it should block local eavesdropping.
The service for text protection contains the option to delete old information and remove all pictures and other attachments, plus the users’ location as default. This will ensure that any private details are removed from servers, devices and other third-parts that might have recorded them during usage.
