It seems that actor Chris Evans, who is still portraying Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, might not continue to do so for much longer. So, the conclusion of the next two Avengers movies might not matter at all. The team of superheroes might not have Steve Rogers around anymore. The actor has supposedly confirmed that he will no longer portray the popular superhero after the yet-to be named Avengers fourth installment, which comes out in 2019.
Apparently, the actor will leave the Marvel train after some reshoots. Those are for the fourth Avengers and are planned for later this year. Evans reportedly wishes to jump off the train before being pushed off. Fans probably know that he has portrayed Captain America since 2011. Back then, he debuted in his first solo movie, Captain America: The First Avenger. As sad as this might sound, it is probably right. This is not the first time that rumors about Evans leaving the Marvel train have surfaced. In some interviews from the set of the upcoming Infinity War, the cast was discussing the possibility of certain important characters retiring.
Chris Evans to retire as Captain America
The cast also said that the promotional tours for the two movies might be the last chance for them to hang out together. And with this apparent confirmation from Evans himself, things begin to look crystal-clear.
However, just because Evans won’t play Cap anymore doesn’t mean that we won’t get to see the character again. Fans of comic books should know that Steve Rogers is only one of the people who have been Captain America over the years. Interestingly enough, two of his replacements are already family faces: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and the Falcon (Anthony Mackie). And fans have been suspecting that the Captain might die during Infinity War. He could be leaving someone else in charge to pick up the mantle. The new Avengers: Infinity War comes out on April 27.
