Because the 4th of June is just around the corner, a man from Connecticut decided that it’s time to stock up on fireworks and, more importantly, ingredients for making fireworks. Recently, the Connecticut authorities have seized a considerable quantity of explosive black powder from a house located in the Quinnipiac Meadows, a New Haven neighborhood.
Explosives Found in New Haven House
New Haven authorities recently arrested 49-year-old Pasquale Crisicio and charged him with illegal fireworks possession, fabricating explosives, and, child endangerment. Although the authorities have yet to determine the quantity of black powder Criscio had in his house, they’ve told the reporters that the man had crates containing the powdered substance in nearly every room.
On Thursday, at approximately 5:30 pm, the New Haven Police Department was contacted to mediate a domestic dispute at home located at 35 Westminster St. When the authorities arrived at the address, they’ve discovered an irate Pasquale Criscio, who just had an argument with his wife over the children.
However, the law enforcement officers saw that Criscio had several crates inside his house, which seemed to contain commercial-grade fireworks. Having no search warrant, the officers decided to mediate the domestic dispute and to return later in order to search the man’s home.
Several hours later, firefighters, paramedics, and bomb disposal crew surrounded the New Haven house, while the officers served the search warrant. Needless to say, that they were about to stumble upon a most explosive surprise.
There Were Enough Explosives to Blow Up the Entire Neighborhood
Upon entering the Connecticut man’s home, the law enforcement officers discovered that Criscio stockpiled black powder in every room. The investigators declared that the man’s family was sitting on a bomb ready to go off and, what’s even more alarming, is that the explosive black powder could have leveled off the whole neighborhood.
For safety reason, the authorities evacuated the whole neighborhood and sent in bomb disposal drones in order to assess the situation. Meanwhile, the Connecticut man and his wife have been taken into custody. The man was charged with illegal possession of explosives, manufacturing bombs, and child endangerment.
According to the authorities, it appears that two children were inside the house when the officers went to mediate Criscio’s domestic dispute. As for the explosives, a New Haven Police Department spokesperson declared that this is a laborious operation and that it will take the bomb disposal crew a lot of time to remove the explosives from the house.
