Anne Frank was forced to leave her beloved and famous diary behind when she and her family were arrested from the secret annex where they had hidden in between 1942 and 1944. At the time, she did not have any idea about how famous and symbolic her writings would become. Years have passed, and Anne Frank is still one of the most prominent symbols of the Holocaust. However, recently, the officials from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam have announced that two new previously hidden pages have been discovered in her diary.
It seems that experts have discovered the new pages hidden underneath brown paper that covered two other pages of her diary. It all happened back in 2016. Then, advanced imaging technology revealed that there was something hidden underneath the already famous pages. It seems that Anne began writing one of these pages in September 28, 1942. Then, she ruined it. She wrote that she was using this page to write down “dirty jokes”. They included passages about sex education and prostitutes. As for the exact time when he wrote all of these jokes, it’s still unclear.
Anne Frank and the secret pages of her diary
It’s not a secret that Anne Frank did write about the changes in her body. Also about menstruation and the attraction she felt for other people. She was 12-years old at the time, and curious about all of these things. When the first version of the diary was published in 1952, eight years after she died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, these parts about sex were cut out.
Then, in 1986, some of the cuts were introduced back in and in 1995, the most uncensored version was published. Now, 73 years after her death, it seems that there are still a lot more to uncover about the 15-year old Anne Frank who still speaks through her diary.
