NASA doesn’t see anything impossible in humans stepping foot on Mars and is working on making that happen. The agency has announced that in a matter of years, humans will reach the Red Planet.
If they will receive enough funding and its technology will reach a certain level of development, humans might be landing for the very first time on Mars’s moon, Phobos in 2033. The Red Planet is planned to be reached by humans by 2039, stated NASA.
For example, when humans landed for the first time on the Moon in 1961, they had the benefit of a funding given by president John F. Kennedy. Presently NASA cannot take advantage of the same economic benefit and is taking things slowly by preparing missions that will help humans to land safe and sound on the surface of Phobos by 2033. After this, the next destination will be Mars.
Studies of Mars, its surface and environment have already started.NASA has sent on the Red Planet Curiosity and Opportunity Rovers which are investigating the surface of the planet and sending scientists on Earth pictures and important information. Some of the most recent information obtained by the rovers proved that Mars might have been the host of microscopic life in its early years.
A team of researchers lead by a scientist from NASA, stated that four billion years ago,Mars had a water ocean which was representing 19% of its surface.
Humans landing on Mars is not just a dream that one day might happen, but a certified and achievable plan. Mars is one of the planets that matter most to human kind as it might help them to evolve. The year to come, NASA will release ExoMars, a machine designed to orbit around the Red Planet.
In 2018, NASA is planning to launch another rover that would explore the surface of Mars, explained the administrator of NASA, Charles Bolden.
NASA is already working on the technology that would help them land on Phobos such as the Orion crew capsule or the Space Launch System mega rocket. Specialists believe that the only way to keep the cost of Mars exploration at a low level would be to develop a series of missions which have connected purposes.
NASA hasn’t been the only agency who is planning to send humans on Mars. Mars One, is an organisation that is planning to send humans to live on the Red Planet, in other words to colonise it.
In order for astronauts to arrive safely to Mars, NASA needs to develop its technology and create a design that would allow humans to breathe and live the environment present on the planet.
NASA has released a summit that would gather the master minds of the planet, which will help with ideas about the Mars mission.
