Increasing Suicide Rates in Minnesota

Suicide is a delicate issue of our society. Specialists are trying to raise awareness about the phenomenon, as recent studies report increasing suicide rates in one of the states, namely Minnesota.

The information is confirmed by the Minnesota Department of Health. According to the statistics, more than seven hundred suicide cases were reported in the state. Comparing the results with those in previous years, it seems like Minnesota is facing an increasing rate of six percent in suicide cases. In 2015, approximately thirteen out of one hundred thousand people were most likely to kill themselves.

According to the same release, the increasing suicide rates were registered with men. Another concerning information revealed by the recent report is that young people tend to do this reckless act. Most of the victims are under twenty-five years of age.

Depression, isolation, losing their friends and family are just a few of the key factors which lead people towards extreme actions. Specialists are aware that mental illnesses can also be a cause. However, they think that most of the suicides can be prevented.

This is precisely what experts intend to raise awareness about. The increasing suicide rates can be stopped or lowered if people know how to manage the desperate situations of other people around them. Psychologists point out that socializing skills play a crucial role in this issue.

People with suicidal tendencies are people who don’t communicate very well, although perhaps they might want it. This is why it is highly important that other people around them should possess excellent socializing skills, in order to help their distress friends with their problems.

Statistics show that fire guns are among the most used methods by people who decide commit suicide. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most effective. Hospital records reveal that most of the lethal bullet wounds are caused by the victim, and not by attackers.

Although suicide is considered to be a delicate subject, specialists don’t recommend that the topic should be avoided. On the contrary, discussing it is the only way to make sure that relevant information gets to people. They are highly interested in spreading information on prevention methods. Here too, like in many other cases, talking through serious problems can lead to their solution.

Specialists also advise people to contact them if they have problems or if they know someone who has. They will provide you with information on how to deal with the situation.
