A new ad-free subscription, one that many people have long been waiting for, will soon be launched by YouTube.
In a report by Recode, it was announced that the new subscription service will probably be released on October 22nd. The subscription, which will completely block all of the annoying and unwanted advertisements from YouTube, will be set at a price of $10 per month. According to Recode, this subscription will also include the Google Play Music benefits.
People have been speculating for years that there was a new subscription service in the making, especially after YouTube Music Key, a music streaming subscription, was launched. Earlier this year, the rumours were confirmed when channel operators were notified about some changes in the YouTube Partner Program terms which were implemented on June 15th.
YouTube channel owners – members of the YouTube Partner program – have been notified via e-mail about the new change, and were asked to comply with the new terms and conditions until October 22nd. Otherwise, their videos will no longer be available for monetization or for public display until they accept the new agreement.
It has been confirmed that YouTube Red will be the name of the new ad-free subscription.
The following is a fragment from the e-mail that was sent to Recode: “As you heard in our previous emails, we want to ensure that fans who choose to pay for an ads-free experience can watch all the same videos that are available on the ads-supported experience.”
That being said, the members of the YouTube Partner program who are owners of one or more YouTube channels, must log into YouTube.com as “pakafka” to update the new agreement regarding ads-free service by October 22nd.
The United States will be the first country where the new ad-free subscription will be implemented. The subscription will then be enforced in other countries as well. Recode writes that besides removing paid advertisements from the website, this new premium service option will also include Google Play Music Unlimited, which on its own is priced at $9.99 per month. The new ad-free membership will not alter any pay to view content, paid channels, film rentals, and so on.
