We know that for some people, pancakes are life. The time-honored desert is exactly the thing you need after a hard day of work or a break-up. Well, it would seem that a 21-year-old man Florida eating pancakes is more important than traffic safety. According to the Florida Police Department, the man was recently charged with traffic obstruction, after the individual posted a picture on Facebook of him eating pancakes in the middle of a zebra crossing.
As a driver, you probably know how frustrating it is to see someone dillydallying on the zebra crossing, especially when you’re in a hurry to get back home or to reach the office before anyone sees you’re late. Now, here’s a good one for the fellow driver – what would you do if, by chance, you would see an individual in the middle of a zebra crossing, sitting on a fishing stool and enjoying pancakes from a TV tray?
As unlikely as such a scenario might seem, it actually happened on the 21st of March in Lakeland, Florida. According to a post uploaded on Lakeland Police Department’s official Facebook page, on that day, at approximately 10:04 am, a concerned citizen dialed 911 and told the operator that an African-American citizen wearing only pajama pants and house slippers was standing on a fishing stool in the middle of a zebra crossing and was eating pancakes from a metal plate placed on a wooden TV tray.
The authorities immediately dispatched a police officer to that location, but the individual was long gone. However, two days later, the photo of the individual eating pancakes on the zebra crossing emerged on Facebook.
Following the picture’s comments, the Lakeland Police Department managed to learn the identity of the man and to determine where he is living. It would appear that the individual in question is called Kiaron Thomas (21), and, according to the investigators, he lives approximately 100 yards away from the zebra crossing.
When confronted with his deed, Kiaron declared that it was just a harmless prank. However, the Lakeland law enforcement officers were not amused and charged him with creating a traffic obstruction which prevented vehicles from moving. Although the 21-year-old prankster was not arrested, he is scheduled to appear before the court on the 25th of April.
Well, probably now he will learn that eating in the middle of the road is probably not the brightest idea.
