Relay For Life keeps going.
As everyone already knows, Relay For Life events continue throughout the United States. The next one is the 2016 Brunswick Relay For Life, where people gathered wearing the Relay For Life T-shirt to walk the track and support the ones fighting with cancer.
Many members of the community are expected to attend this event at the Brunswick High School campus school starting from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. May 28th. Cancer survivors will be celebrated at the opening ceremony in the stadium. Plus they will be the ones leading the members of every team around the track for the 2016 Relay first lap.
The event activities include various contests and games, delicious drinks and food, raffles, entertainment, and competitions. Plus, there will be fresh-squeezed lemonades, root beer and Italian sausage sandwiches and many other treats.
The organizers have also prepared a community pizza challenge, Zumba, bingo with great prizes and games such as ‘think Minute-to-Win-It.’ Furthermore, every participant will receive a ‘punch card’ with which they have to visit the team tents. Every completed card will enter into another competition.
All caregivers and cancer survivors, the ones currently under treatment included, are invited to a reception of survivors, that will feature luncheon and a gift bag for each survivor. The most important thing is the connection between people. This connection is a vital source of support and inspiration.
Those who want to remember someone they lost to cancer or to honor a cancer survivor can bring their contribution by buying a luminaria from any Relay team member or the website.
Every penny that will be raised is going to be used to support the activity of The American Cancer Society. The admission to Relay is open to the public all 12 hours regardless of their age and is also free.
Relay members will continue their mission after this event with the Ninth Annual Run for the Relay, a 5 km run and a 1-mile fun run on June 4. The Ninth Annual Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 1-mile run at 9 a.m. Both of them include many prizes, especially for the top finishers. Plus, these Relay For Life events will also have fruit, refreshments, food and a DJ.
