Trump’s lawyer obtained a restraining order against former porn star, Stormy Daniels.
President Trump’s lawyer secretly won a temporary restraining order last week against former porn actress, Stormy Daniels, to prevent her from speaking about her alleged affair with Mr. Trump.
On Wednesday, White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, told reporters that an arbitration proceeding against Ms. Clifford (professionally known as Stormy Daniels) “was won in the president’s favor”.
Daniels filed a lawsuit on Tuesday claiming that a $130 thousand settlement she reached with Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, to buy her silence about the alleged affair was no longer valid because Trump had no signed the “hush agreement”. The lawsuit marks the first time that Daniels had openly admitted to having an agreement of this nature with the president.
According to the lawsuit, Daniels had an affair with Trump in 2006 and 2007 with Cohen and the actress signing the agreement to secure her silence on October 28, 2016, a few days before the presidential election.
During Wednesday’s press briefing, Ms. Sanders said that the president had denied having an affair with Daniels or making the payment himself. According to the press secretary, Trump was not even aware of the payment made to Daniels at the time.
“This case has already been won in arbitration, and there was no knowledge of any payments from the president, and he has denied all these allegations,” Sanders said.
Cohen’s lawyer, Lawrence Rosen, issued a statement on Wednesday night saying that the arbitration judge had concluded that Daniels violated the agreement between her and Cohen which would prevent her from filing the lawsuit.
Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, dismissed Sander’s claim of an arbitration win as a weak attempt to silence the porn star once more.
“Yeah, and he also won the popular vote”, Avenatti said of Trump.
More so, Daniels’ lawyer said that he did not consider the restraining order valid and that his client would proceed with her lawsuit in open court.
