Samsung and AMD join forces in the hardware wars, since due to the current falling trend of mobile phone revenue, the phone manufacturer tried to increase its processor production branch. In the meantime, AMD develops GPUs and CPUs for desktops and top gaming consoles, but the company does not have a very profitable activity.
According to the South Korean tech media, that sort of collaboration was too important to disregard, so Samsung is ready to produce GPU and CPU processors for AMD based on the 14-nano meter system that will be released next year.
All AMD chips are now produced by Global Foundries, the organization’s branch that was acquired by investors from Abu Dhabi Both Global Foundries and Samsung will allegedly produce AMD’s newest Greenland GPU graphic cards and Zen processors using the 14-nano meter procedure.
This will make the elements much quicker and energy-effective than past AMD hardware. AMD is currently on the second place after NVIDIA and Intel in GPU and CPU in revenue, respectively, and has economic difficulties.
The organization is cutting off 5% of its almost 10,000 employees, while some of its key components experts lately left for its competitors. Despite all these problems, the producer has made for itself a narrow market providing all the processors used by Sony and Microsoft in their PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The official documents show that both companies will start developing a main handling processor in addition to dedicated graphic cards, by using the 14-nano meter technological innovation. Samsung has expanded its overall customer platform in many areas for its hardware branches, as it wants to counterbalance the income decrease for the smart phone departments.
The South Korean giant has been having difficulties against Apple and its premium phone sales. Ironically, it produces a good part of the processors used by the Cupertino organization for its famous iPhones and also develops GPU cards for NVIDIA or other businesses.
AMD’s inbound CPUs will be efficient with Intel due to the microscopic 14-nano meter procedure. This improvement could get up to more than 40 percent in speed and effectiveness than its present creations.
If AMD carries on to cooperate with Samsung, while assuming that the sources are indeed right, it may actually surpass Intel when it comes to their CPU race in the desktop industry. Samsung plans to deliver even more effective 10-nano meter processor by the coming months, while Apple lately stated that its proprietary 10-nano meter components will not appear until 2017.
