Blanchester authorities recently declared that the woman who was reported missing on Wednesday was found lying in a narrow pit dug up in a wooden shed. The Blanchester woman suffered a seizure when the authorities found her and were taken to the hospital. Dennis Dunn, the woman’s abductor, was taken into custody after a standoff that lasted a couple of hours.
Woman Trapped in Shed Pit
Scott Reinbolt of the Blanchester Police Department announced that the 30-year-old woman who was reported missing by her mother was found, on Wednesday afternoon, trapped inside a narrow pit dug inside a wooden shed.
According to Reinbolt, on Wednesday, a neighbor dialed 911 and told the authorities that he heard someone screaming and crying on the nearby property. After the police officers had arrived, the man told them that he believes that the screams seem to be coming from a wooden shed located on Dennis Dunn’s property, a 45-year-old Blanchester resident.
Upon entering the shed, the officers saw that the middle part of the structure was occupying by a pit. Reportedly, the pit was covered with large pieces of wood and other heavy objects. After managing to clear away the wood and heavy objects and to expose the mouth of the pit, the police officers discovered a woman inside.
Victim Suffered a Seizure Prior to Rescue
According to Reinbolt, when the 30-year-old woman was rescued from Dunn’s pit, she was unable to speak, and, prior to the officers’ arrival, she suffered an epileptic seizure. Furthermore, it would seem that the woman’s disappearance was reported by her mother, two hours before the neighbor called the authorities.
The 30-year-old woman was taken to the hospital where she received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries. As for the decrepit shed in which the woman was found, the authorities determined that it belonged to 45-year-old Dennis Dunn, a man convicted several times in the past.
According to Dunn’s police file, the man made a habit out of calling the police and telling them that someone broke into his home. The authorities could not find any evidence of a forced entry and dismissed the man’s claims. However, the individual persisted.
Because of his behavior, Dunn was admitted to a psychiatric facility, to receive treatment. Shortly after he was released, we went back to his old habits of calling the authorities. As for the woman Dunn abducted and threw into the shed pit, the authorities discovered that the suspect believed that the two of them were in a relationship.
The Blanchester man surrendered after a standoff that lasted for several hours.
