Amazon Pushes Dash Replenishment To Higher Levels

January 20, 2016 By Sam Doliente Leave a Comment

45 Brother printer models are already equipped with the Dash Replenishment software.

Even if the Amazon Dash Button has been available since March 2015, the company does not want their move towards providing fast and reliable services to citizens worldwide to stop there. In order to achieve that, Amazon pushes Dash Replenishment to higher levels, allowing certain devices to order supplies automatically when they get low.

The first products that will benefit from the Dash Replenishment service will be ink printers manufactured by Brother Industries Ltd.. Once the printer starts to run out of ink, it will immediately order a refill from Amazon, dismissing the users’ need to constantly check if their printer is running low. By doing this, the fear of not having enough ink to finish printing a project will be entirely non-existent.

Dishwashers from Common Electric Co. will have Dash Replenishment as well, allowing users to stop fretting over the need of supplies in case of a dish washing emergency. Other companies will join the aforementioned two in the near future, with the first being Whirlpool, with Smart Dishwashers, and Purell, with soap and hand sanitizers.

In order to allow other companies to join in, Amazon has released the Dash Replenishment API software for every company out there. Besides releasing the API tool required to build the software, Amazon claims that the manufacturing process itself is extremely easy to use, using only 10 lines of code.

Amazon hopes that in the next few years, printer manufacturers, as well as other retailers that sell devices which are reliant on a steady supply of various products in order to function properly, will also adopt Dash Replenishment. The Dash Button has gained a pretty large user base in the past months, even if at first it seemed like a type of niche product.

According to market experts and aficionados, this type of business practice may start with Amazon, but it will probably also be adopted by other companies in the following years. This will happen only if the Dash Replenishment service proves to be extensively viable, as well as profitable.

If one would take into account how much online shopping has spread over the past few years, it might seem that a Dash Replenishment type of service is the next evolutionary step for online retailers. But due to the fact that Amazon is one of the biggest companies that provides this type of service, it will take a hefty amount of time before other companies will even hope to compete against it.

Although Amazon pushes Dash Replenishment to higher levels, it is still unclear if this software will gain enough momentum in order to one day be adopted by every home on Earth. Only time will tell if consumers will opt for this service instead of personally going online and shopping for supplies themselves.
