Entangled Geese Helped By Wildlife Officials

Geese were captured and helped by Wildlife officials.

A pair of geese was recently found by wildlife officials tangled in fishing line at Spring Meadow Lake. Thanks to their efforts, the pair was captured and offered medical assistance by the experts.

According to Lisa Rhodin, rehab center manager of Wildlife and Parks, scientists needed over a month to successfully capture the pair of geese with net cannon. More precisely, the birds avoided getting caught for six weeks giving the officials a really hard time.

After removing the fishing line, the geese were treated and then released to enjoy their life. Furthermore, Rhodin confessed that she was impressed by how many people involved in the operation but that she started to worry because every agency brought its contribution to help the pair and it was still so hard to capture.

The geese were in a bad shape when they were caught as the fishing line damaged their feet. Worse, one of the birds had not just its feet entangled, but also a wing. Nevertheless, Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials managed to remove the line before it was too late for the geese to recover.

If the birds had not been captured, they would have lost their feet. Fortunately, they were offered the best treatment and they recovered very well. It is also worth mentioning that it is the first time when wildlife officials from this area help geese.

Unfortunately, many cases of entangled birds are reported every year because anglers are not adequately disposing of the fishing lines in designated PVC pipes. The problem of human ignorance hits again, and it still causes many reasons of concern throughout the world.

Experts believe that people should change their perspective if we want to start doing something good for the environment. The world’s ecosystem was always related to human activity. Therefore, if people continue ignoring the fact that they should bring their contribution to this initiative, our environment will continue to suffer.

Many organizations around the world raised awareness and funds to deal with this problem. Furthermore, scientists are trying to find a better strategy and a more efficient approach to address this issue.

Geese, other birds, mammals, and insects will have a brighter future if people start respecting the treasures and the resources provided by nature.
