Kroger Recalls Ice Cream Due To Peanut Concern

Kroger ice cream recall due to peanuts.

Another recall was issued, this time by the Kroger Company regarding Kroger Deluxe S’mores Ice Cream from its retail stores because it might contain undeclared allergens.

The company decided to recall the product after a supplier, Grain Craft, had found that low levels of peanut residues might have contaminated a raw ingredient. Some consumers might be allergic to peanuts, so they could eat the product being unaware of the fact that they might suffer severe consequences.

Experts underline that people who are not allergic to peanuts have no reason to worry. In other words, they can consume the product as it is 100 percent safe. The only safety issue is related to the possible peanut contamination, but no cases have been reported until now.

Every consumer who is allergic to peanuts and bought the Kroger Deluxe S’mores Ice Cream must avoid eating it. The retail stores of Kroger company include Ralphs and Smith’s, QFC, City Market, King Soopers, JayC, Fry’s, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, Gerbes, Baker’s and Dillons.

These stores are located in Wyoming, West Virginia, Washington, Virginia, Utah, Tennessee, South Carolina, Oregon, Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico, Nebraska, North Carolina, Montana, Missouri, Michigan, Kentucky, Kansas, Indiana, Illinois, Idaho, Georgia, Colorado, California, Arizona, Arkansas, Alabama, Alaska, and Mississippi.

The products were removed from the Kroger’s store shelves and a special customer recall notification was initiated alerting customers who might have bought the recalled Class 1 ice cream. The announcement is made through phone calls and receipt tape messages.

Several other recalls have been made this year regarding mixed fruits and veggies, ice cream, and flour, due to Listeria and E. coli danger of contamination. The most recent recall was made by the General Mills.

The company recalled a tremendous amount of flour due to an E. coli contamination. The customers were requested to throw away the flour and wash their hands in case they used it to avoid cross contamination.

Also, many packages of mixed vegetables have been recalled after Listeria was detected in a facility. Listeria is a resilient bacteria that can survive in freezing temperatures. That is why experts recommend people to cook food thoroughly in order to avoid a possible infection.

For example, heating food in microwaves is not a good idea because this heat is uneven and some bacteria might survive. Fortunately, Kroger’s products are safe for people who are not vulnerable to peanut consumption.
