Apple Could Launch a New Smartwatch Band

January 17, 2016 By John Cooper Leave a Comment

Apple smartwatch

Apple could launch a new wristband for its smartwatch.

Apple could launch a new smartwatch band that that will close magnetically and will also be used as a protective encasement when it will not be on the wrist. Until now, Apple launched six different bands for its smartwatch.

The band will be simply called the Magnetic wristband, according to the filing Apple made to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The band’s closing straps will be similar to the Milanese loop and to the leather loop. It will also have two ways of wrapping, one for when it will be on the wrist and one for the storage.

The wristband will be made out of two straps that will have a malleable material. The material will be embedded with magnets that will have different patterns. When it will not be used, the user will be able to wrap the bend differently, in order to protect its body and screen. This will be possible because of the magnetic forces.

This new feature will definitely be praised by the users, as many people damage easily the screens of their watches. This feature could save a lot of money that were spent before on repairs. Also, the heart rate sensor could use another layer of protection.

Apple said that alternative magnetic straps will be possible in the future, that will be able to fasten the watch on computers or fridges. Another possibility is the wristband that will create a stand for the watch. It is not known yet when or if the wristband will be launched on the market or if it is just a concept that is being taken into consideration by the Apple developers.

The latest strap introduced by Apple for its smartwatch is the Sport Band colors one, which is made out of leather and was designed in collaboration with Hermes. Other accessories for the smartwatch have been launched, so the magnetic wristband will be either for this device, either for a second generation smartwatch. Other accessories designed for Apple’s smartwatch include Casetify, Zagg InvisibleShield HD, Reserve Strap, Native Union Dock, Spigen Slim Armour, Beats by Dr. Dre Solo2, WatchKeeper, Sena Leather Watch Case. Casetify allows you to design your own watch strap. All you have to do is choose a photo from your computer, Facebook or Instagram and you will create the strap through the website Casetify or through an app. You can choose between a 38 mm or a 42 mm strap and the shipping is free.

Apple could launch a new smartwatch band that that will close magnetically .The watch band patent was filed in August 2015 by its inventor, Erik G. de Jong.
