Valkyria Chronicles Remastered Is Scheduled for a Spring 2016 NA and EU Release

"valkyria chronicles remastered"

You can’t have an awesome anime game without some added fantasy elements or giant swords, spears, axes, scythes, katanas, guns and so on.

Sega has announced that Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is scheduled for a Spring 2016 NA and EU release for the Playstation 4 console. The game will be available in both digital and retail versions, with the latter coming with a Squad 7-inspired metal case, as long as supplies last.

The game itself is a tactical squad-based JRPG that combines normal turn-based tactics with 3rd person shooter elements. Even if at first glance this mix might seem somewhat difficult to get accustomed to, it is actually easy to control. Basically, instead of choosing a square to move and clicking on an enemy in order to shoot him, you will have to do everything by yourself, walking up to your targeted location and aiming at your desired target.

The story of the game is heavily inspired by World War II with some fantasy elements added for good measure. One must not forget that this game is an anime, so you shouldn’t be surprised if out of the blue, some laser-shooting tank-busting girls will start to surface. But that doesn’t mean that the story is not engaging, being somewhat reminiscent of Attack on Titan in terms of gruesomeness and general grim feel, but instead of gigantic man-eating titans, you will be tasked with waging war against neighboring countries.

Besides the core game, which takes around 50+ hours to fully complete, being a fully-fledged JRPG, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered comes with previously released DLCs at no added cost. Hard EX Mode will be there if you really want a challenge while Edy’s Mission, Selvaria’s Mission and the Challenge of Edy Detachment will build upon the main story with added missions, maps, and features.

Fortunately for anime fans, PS4 will be getting some amazing titles this year. The new installment in the Naruto Shippuden Ninja Storm franchise will hit the console later this month while the Attack on Titan game will come later down the line. Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will run in a native 1080p resolution at a steady framerate of 60FPS.

Bearing in mind how Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is scheduled for a Spring 2016 NA and EU release for $29,99, Western gamers should get ready to curse at dice rolls, with the game’s combat functioning in the same way as X-Com. But, at least, once a character dies, they won’t be dead forever like in the aforementioned title, given the fact that it would be weird if the main characters of the story die in the tutorial area.
