The Boy Scouts of America`s code of honor now prohibits young lads to participate in squirt-gun fights against each other.
This decision was taken in order to uphold the high moral standards that the organization wants to instill into young minds and on the Scouting blog, the new rule was defended on the base that, there is nothing kind about firing water pistol into a person`s face and scouts are all about kindness.
But the squirt guns have not been outlawed altogether. They can be used by the scouts to shoot at a target, provided that they wear safety goggles.
It also looks like water balloon fights are frowned upon now and new regulations regarding what types of balloons are permitted for such an activity have been brought to the attention of the young scouts.
Puffed up balls and latex balloons can no longer be used in a water balloon fight, but only ping-pong sized, biodegradable balloons.
The Boy Scouts of America also have other regulations regarding playing that the young members have to respect. They cannot play with boomerangs, ninja throwing stars or spear guns. The boys are also not allowed to throw marshmallows through a straw.
The new decision to ban water fights, has been met with a bit of controversy and many parents are unsure whether or not this decision is good for their little scout.
There are people who applaud the decision of not promoting fighting between scout members, but there are also voices who are questioning what is becoming of the boy scouts and whether or not the organization promotes weakness instead of strength.
Defenders of the new regulation say that this decision is beneficial and that after all, the term Boy Scout is used to refer to a very nice young man who is always prepared, not to children who engage in frivolous playing.
The Boy Scouts of America is a well-known and respected paramilitary organization for young children. The movement has over two million members and over 1 million adults volunteer to teach and supervise the children as they learn.
The Boy Scouts of America mean to teach young American boys high moral values and to help the boys develop from a physical, emotional and mental point of view.
Neil Armstrong, Hank Aaron, Michael Bloomberg and Gerald Ford are just a few of the notable alumni of the Boy Scouts of America and they all gave credit to what they learned during their years as scouts for their success as adults.
