Security measures have worsened at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, France.
Reports show that increasingly more U.S. travelers cancel flights to Paris. Their decision is influenced by the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, France, which have determined France’s President, Francois Hollande to declare the state of emergency across the whole country.
U.S. residents have had their share of terror during the 9/11 attacks, so the majority of them have been terrified when they’ve heard of the recent terrorist attacks in Paris. The bombing and the shooting at the Bataclan concert hall left 129 dead people and 350 injured persons behind. The President of the country has declared a state of emergency and France’s borders have been closed.
Despite the harsh measures, flight operators reassure customers that French airports are still open. Air planes are still coming to and from Paris, but there are many delays because authorities have to perform various security checkups.
Although they do everything in their power to convince customers that it is still safe to travel to Paris, most passengers call to cancel their tickets. There is nothing that U.S. companies can do as they understand this is a really bad situation. As a matter of fact, companies agreed to let customers cancel flights without asking them any additional fees.
It is unclear how many losses flight operators will suffer as a result of the terrorist attacks. Fact is that most airplanes heading towards Paris are almost empty, which means companies do not cover their expenses.
Nevertheless, there are still strategies that companies can use to combat this wave of cancellations. Eventually, these enterprises will choose to operate fewer flights per day to France, given the lack of demand.
The recent terrorist attacks in Paris have alarmed countries all over the world. They have acted as a reminder that security measures should never be loosened or neglected as terrorists could take advantage of every system flaw.
Airport security checkups have been improved in London, as well. A 41-year-old man from France was arrested on Saturday after authorities saw him dispose a device that was very similar to a gun.
The United States is keeping a close eye on airports and strategic points. They have reassured inhabitants that there are no terrorist threats for any of the American territories.
