Wisconsin police officer who shot seven times an unarmed teen will not be charged as the man was intoxicated with halucinogenic substances and represented a threath.
A police officer from Wisconsin who shot deadly an intoxicated unarmed teenager in March, will not be facing charges, explained the prosecutor. Officer Matt Kenny saw himself forced to use his gun during the encounter with 19 year old Tony Robinson as he represented a threat.
The tragic ending of the situation which lead to the death of the young man, was the result of a deadly police force which can be entirely justified by the law and the police officer will not be charged, stated Ismael Ozanne attorney of Dane County District.
According to official reports, that night, Robinson was staying at the apartment of some friends and smoked marijuana that morning. Allegedly he told one of his friends that he wants to eat hallucinogenic mushrooms and he bought that day around 7 grams of mushrooms.
After consuming the mushrooms, he started telling his friends that he was panicking and started to shout at his father, who was not there with him. At one point he became violent and tried to hit someone.
One of the friends along with his girlfriend wanted to leave and Robinson followed them outside. The two got inside their car and drove off, but Robinson started chasing them by foot. His friend decided to call 911 and told them that Robinson was punching the apartment walls and was acting completely insane.
After some minutes, 911 had received another call, about a man who stated that he was punched by Robinson as he was walking on the street.
In a matter of minutes, they received another complaint, from another person who said that Robinson tried to strangle him as he was at a gas station putting fuel in his car. The man told the police that Robinson had the face of a crazy person and he feared that he would kill him. He had also witnessed Robinson hitting some other people passing by, on the street.
Kenny responded to the call about a man who had hit one of his friends after which he started running in the open traffic. Kenny has been warned about teh fact that Robinson was under the influence of something.
Later reports have shown that the young man had in his system traces of psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana and Xanax.
Kenny found Robinson in the apartment, in a very bizarre and violent state. As he entered the location he could hear him as if he was engaged in a fight.
His first impression was that Robinson was attacking somebody. When he entered the apartment he announced his presence as a police officer and right away Robinson came at him and hit him in the head. Kenny stated that he recalled Robinson hitting him in the head more than once and he was scared he was going to push him down the stairs or that he would reach his gun and start shooting at him and the persons inside the apartment.
As Robinson kept coming towards him, Kenny pulled out his gun and fired seven bullets. The medical files showed that Robinson had been shot in the shoulder, lip, left part of the chest and in the index finger of the right hand.
The other police officer started to search the apartment and found out that there had been nobody there but Robinson.
The decision of the district attorney created a huge riot, as police officials had received various threats saying that if Kenny will not be charged they will start shooting police officers on the street.
