One of the most baffling cases of unlawful sexual contact is being disputed in a United States court. Andrew Montalvo, a former Orange County teacher, has been charged with unlawful sexual contact with a student after the man asked for nudes.
The ‘Send Nudes’ trend seemed to have grown in popularity in nearly all the corners of the world. However, there’s a major distinction between asking your significant other to be a little naughty and to ask a high school student who is below the age of consent.
Former Orange County teacher Andrew Montalvo thought that age was only a number when he asked one of his students to send nude pictures. For safety reasons, the police did not disclose the identity of the young female, only the fact that she was sixteen years old when she was approached by Montalvo.
After the incident, Montalvo, who taught civics to seventh-graders, was placed on a paid leave. The man taught at the Avalon Middle School since 2011 and was forced to go on paid leave in November 2016.
According to the court’s documents, the story began when Montalvo posted a comment on a picture the girl posted on her social media account. The girl was wearing a bikini in that picture, and Montalvo saw fit to compliment her body and asked the girl if she was willing to show him more.
Baffling enough, the girl agreed and sent Montalvo a couple of nude pictures via Snapchat. This happened in May or June 2016. However, the girl was determined to turn in her teacher, but something happened in the meantime.
The girl was arrested in September and was charged with grand theft and burglary. At the time, the girl still wanted to tell the police about her teacher, but she lost her phone and could not prove anything.
But with the help of a friend, the girl contacted Montalvo from jail and told him that if he did not pay her, she would tell the police everything. The two agreed to meet in a secluded parking lot, where Montalvo, the former Orange County teacher, paid her $2,000 not to tell the police.
However, the girl told the police everything about her teacher, and the official found an incriminating message on his phone. In his defense, Montalvo said that he was drunk when he asked the girl to send him nudes.
