A coalition of European astronomers has recently reached an unusual and unexpected conclusion. It seems that aliens have not visited us yet because they are also trapped on their own planets. It’s no secret that experts have looked for and even managed to find exoplanets. These are planets that are located outside our solar system. According to reports, until now, they managed to find about 2,000 such far away planets. However, most of them are inhabitable, being made out of gas. There are also others that are too far or too close to their suns, so not in the so-called “Goldilocks zone”, for them to be habitable.
Of those who are in the “Goldilocks zone” and solid, most of them are too big. Some are even larger than the Earth, while others are about the same size as Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system. This is what brings us to the main problem. Because these exoplanets are so large, they also have a very strong gravity. So strong that spacecraft cannot even lift off the ground and explore. According to researcher Michael Hippke, the strong gravity on a planet that’s a lot bigger than our own would surely keep its inhabitants grounded, literally.
Aliens might be trapped on their own planets
Moreover, Hippke thinks that because of the gravity impediment, these alien civilizations might even be behind us, technologically. Their limitations would not allow them to have satellite TV, a Hubble Space Telescope, or even a moon mission. We have our own example to guide us through this theory.
Getting a spacecraft into space and beyond Earth’s bonds is the hardest and most expensive part. Now think of the same situation but on a much bigger scale. It would be almost impossible for aliens to get off their planets. This is one of the reasons why we might never encounter an alien species in our lifetime.
