Unfortunately, for most of us, the work day doesn’t end as soon as we leave the office. This means that some of us continue to work at home or our way home using our mobile devices. And sometimes we bury our heads so deep inside the phone’s display that we forget about those little things that define us as human beings such as children.
A note posted on the door of a day care center for children shows us that sometimes, we’ve just got to take a step back and reconsider our priorities. Probably the hardest aspect of being a parent is having to work all day and not having the time nor the energy to spend some time with the little ones.
It’s regrettable, but this is the sad part of living in a society that’s always on the run and doesn’t start to ponder on what really matters. Although we are forced to this for the sake of our children, they don’t understand the complexity of the situation, seeing only that the mom or the dad paying more attention to the phone than to him or her.
The staff of the day care center who posted that note saw this rising new trend of parents coming in to pick up their children with their noses buried deep in their mobile devices, and sought a way to attract their attention and to tell them that this kind of behavior is appalling and not to mention damaging to the kids.
The result is an awesome and slightly sarcastic note, which later became an Internet phenomenon after a mother coming it to pick up her child saw the note and snapped a picture of it. After only one day, the picture was shared more than one million times and had over 900,000 comments.
The day care center note says that the parent is coming it to pick up his child, and it would be for the best to take his or her head out of the phone and pay more attention to the kid. To show that they mean business, the note’s authors even provided the reader with a colorful example.
Apparently, one of the mothers who came it to pick up her daughter was so absorbed by her mobile device, that she failed to acknowledge her child wanting to show her the art project.
