Cats may be agile, intelligent, and full of charm, but, sometimes, even they can get into trouble. This is exactly what happened to fluffy feline from Fresno, who thought that it was a great idea to scale a 45-feet pole.
Fat Boy, as the cat was named by its rescuers, was found on top of a long pole. According to Fresno’s utility workers, the guys who rescued the big boned feline, Fat Boy was sitting on the pole for nine days before they were called.
Prior to the utility team’s arrival, many Fresno residents heard the cat meowing, and attempted to rescue it by tempting it with treats. However, the feline climbed too high and was unable to get down from the pole.
After seeing that the big boned cat could not come down from the pole, some concerned citizens called several agencies, but to no avail. Even the tree service authority refuse to come and take down the cat from the pole.
Things remained the same for a couple of days until Silver Villa, the owner of a cat NGO heard about the cat stuck on pole. Using his agency’s influence, Villa persuaded the authorities to help the cat stuck on pole.
On the ninth day, a team of utility workers arrived to rescue the fat feline. According to their statements, the cat was so far up the pole, that they actually had to cut several power cables in order to rescue him. As a result, approximately 250 houses from the neighborhood were left without electricity.
However, the residents didn’t mind it, as long as the cat is safely returned to its owner. A couple of hours later, the utility workers managed to reach Fat Boy and to take him down from the pole.
Denny Boyles, the utility company’s spokesperson, declared that, in most cases, cats tend to come them on their own after they get thirsty or hungry. However, it would seem that Fat Boy couldn’t get down even if he wanted to.
Once the cat was taken down from the pole, the rescue crew returned him to his rightful owner, a 14-years old boy from the neighborhood. According to Andrew Perez, Fat Boy’s owner, the cat probably got scared by a dog and decided to seek refuge on the tall post.
Presently, the cat is healthy and in good shape, despite his traumatic experience.
