A mother from North Carolina is bent on suing a daycare worker from the Carrboro Early School after the woman breastfed her child on purpose. The woman declared that due to the worker’s disobedience her 3-month-old son is now in hospital. The center’s management fired the daycare worked after learning about the incident.
Kaycee Oxendine is the mother of a 3-month-old child who has recently been admitted to a North Carolina hospital after being breastfed. The woman said that due to the nature of her job, she was forced to enroll her son at the Carrboro Early School.
However, a recent accident not only determined the woman to pull out her son from the daycare center but also forced the establishment’s manager to rethink its hiring procedure. According to the woman, on Friday, she received a phone call from one of her son’s teacher who told her that her son might be constipated.
One of the workers taking care of Oxendine’s child told the woman that, in most cases, breastfeeding might help with constipation. However, the woman told the daycare worked that she is not to breastfeed her son, as the child could not process milk-based products.
According to Oxendine, the boy was born prematurely. Furthermore, upon his birth, his doctors diagnosed him with lactose intolerance. Oxendine was very careful about her son’s diet, and, on more than one occasion, told the daycare workers that he isn’t allowed milk or any kind of dairy products.
The woman recalls telling the woman at least twice that she is not to feed her son with breast milk. However, several minutes after the conversation with Oxendine was over, the woman went to a secluded room, lifted her blouse, and started to breastfeed the toddler. These moments were captured by a security camera mounted in the room.
On Friday evening, shortly after the woman returned home with her son, the toddler began experiencing unusual symptoms, including vomiting. Alarmed, his mother rushed him to the local hospital, where the doctors told her that this was an allergic reaction to dairy products.
Enraged by this event, Oxendine went straight to the manager’s office where he informed him about his son’s condition. Upon reviewing the security footage, the manager was shocked to discover the daycare worked breastfeeding the toddler even though his mother forbade it.
The woman’s employment was terminated and charged with misdemeanor child abuse.
