On the subject of what not to do or, rather, not to wear while you’re behind the wheel, we present to you the slightly humorous and pungently ironic case of a man from Newville, Pennsylvania who recently got arrested for driving under the influence, while wearing a shirt reading ‘Drunk Lives Matter.’
Elwood Gutshall III, a 44-year-old man from Cumberland County, was recently arrested and charged with driving a vehicle while being under the influence of alcohol. According to the Cumberland County authorities, on the 19th of March, at around 12:15 pm, the traffic monitor officers spotted a green Ford pickup truck behaving oddly in traffic.
In only a couple of minutes, the driver of the pickup truck violated at a dozen traffic regulations, becoming a danger to the other drivers and himself. Out of caution, the traffic monitor officers pulled over the driver’s vehicle in order to question him.
After the man had stopped his vehicle, the officer approached him. However, this will become a night to remember. According to the law enforcement agents who arrested Gutshall, the man was dressed in a casual neon-green T-shirt which had the ‘Drunk Lives Matter’ message printed on it.
Upon asking the man to step out of the vehicle, the police officers realized that the man was a bit tipsy. Obviously, the ‘Drunk Lives Matter’ activist was immediately arrested and taken to the police station for a little blood draw. When Gutshall’s BAC results came back, the officers realized that it was the right call to pull the man from the street.
Gutshall’s blood test results read 0.217 percent, which means that he will, more than likely, end up in prison for DUI. Well, this proves, once and for all, that not even a good sense humor can save you when you’re breaking the law.
What’s even more baffling is that of all the T-shirts in the world, the man decided to wear one saying that drunk lives matter while he himself was drenched in alcohol.
In Facebook post uploaded on Tuesday by the Newville Police Department, the man wearing the pic T-Shirt can be seen while posing for a mug shot. The expression on his face is probably more priceless than the message printed on his neon-green T-shirt.
Well, for the stunt he just pulled, Elwood Gutshall III of Newville was charged with the highest rate DUI and committing multiple traffic violations.
