The most valuable target public, namely teenagers and even young adults, are opting to make their life events and thoughts public on other services such as Instagram and Snapchat. The weak teen support might explain why Facebook has its platform growth slowing down.

Research company eMarketer has been annually taking the pulse of social media networks. While Facebook appears on media as still the king of digital communication, the company is in actuality losing ground.
At the same time, other apps such as Facebook-owned Instagram and rival Snapchat are gaining influence. Their youth demographics delivered double-digit growth. These findings suggest that youngsters are after the latest social media platforms. New players have often more courage to be creative with their communication tools.

The Report Indicates that Snapchat Can Encompass Facebook and Instagram by the End of 2017
This report marks the second consecutive year when Facebook registers low teen support. Considering that advertisers marked this demographic segment as the most valuable target consumers, this involution can translate even into monetary losses for Facebook.
According to eMarketer estimations, monthly users with ages between 12 to 17 years will decrease 3.4% to 114.5 million by the end of this year for Facebook. By comparison, same period last year the company registered only a 1.2% decline.
On the other hand, the report predicts good news for the youngest participant in the social media industry, Snapchat. The study suggests that the company will come to encompass both Facebook and Instagram in numbers of teen users by the end of this year. This would be the very first time the company would score such an achievement.
