Giant search engine Google takes into consideration the needs of users around the world. As one of the most exciting and entertaining events is happening (the Olympic Games), Google came up with the idea of allowing users to visit the venues of the event via Google Maps.
The Olympic Games take place in beautiful Rio de Janeiro (sunny Brazil) this year. As it is such a special event, happening only once in four years, the people behind Google thought they should make it even more special. They thought that funny doodle is not enough anymore, so they updated the Google Maps system instead, and now people around the world can view the arena and the settings Rio prepared for the mighty competition.
If you thought that you had to travel all the way to Brazil to get the real feeling of the Olympic Games, now you don’t have to worry about that anymore. Your connection to the internet will do the trick for you: just access Google Maps and you will be able to see for yourself.
Stock News USA reports on the process of achieving this goal:
“The company is working on introducing new digital details for the total of 25 indoor and 12 outdoor venues on Google Maps. The launch is a part of a set of updates including the games, view of street images and also a bigger attempt to map the famous favelas of Rio de Janeiro.”
The new Google Map update allows you to explore the venues of this year’s Olympic Games in Rio, and this is a true experience. Although it can’t compare with being physically present there, it is still a smart way of providing viewers with interesting content. They can explore twelve outdoor venues and twenty-five indoor ones.
This decision comes after another supporting act from Google towards both the Rio, Brazil, and the Olympics. A week before the competition began, Google made available a video tour of the city, exposing its iconic images, including the huge statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, the famous beaches, and the picturesque favelas. The video is called Beyond the Map and features 360-degree video elements.
So, if you couldn’t make it to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro this year, make sure you check the latest updated on Google Maps.
