As strange as it would might seem, the pilots of an HA plane were forced to make an emergency stop at the Los Angeles airport after a passenger had a fit over the price of a blanket. After landing the plane, the man was asked to disembark, but the passengers had to wait for one more hour before the plane resumed its course.
We all know that traveling by plane can become rather expensive. Apart from the cost of the plane ticket, you can also get charged for things like food, headphones rental, for wanting to take an extra bag with you, and, of course, for blankets.
While most of us just turn the other cheek, others are prone to outburst, and to telling airline workers that some of the extra costs are just outrageous. A similar incident took place on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
An HA Plane was forced to make an emergency detour after a passenger threatened one of the crew members. According to a Hawaiian Airlines spokesperson, an hour after taking off from the Las Vegas airport, the flight crew of the HA7 plane announced that the flight would be diverted to Los Angeles.
At first, the passengers believe that there was a threat on board and that the pilot, out of precaution, decided that it was for the best to make this detour. However, after a couple of hours of waiting, the passengers found out the real reason why the HA7 plane made the detour.
One hour after taking off, one of the passengers, later identified by the authorities as being a 66-year-old man, asked one of the flight attendants for a blanket. The young woman informed him that the cost of renting a blanket was $12.
After hearing that he had to shovel some extra cash in order to get a blanket, the man became upset and started to yell. Despite the flight attendant’s best effort to calm him down, the passenger continued to shout. He ended his little speech by saying that he wouldn’t like anything better than to take the flight attendant behind the shed to show her that he meant business.
The woman quickly informed the pilot about the incident, who decided to make an emergency stop at the Los Angeles airport. FBI agents and LA Airport police officers met the rowdy individual at the gate. However, the man was not arrested, but the rest of the passenger had to wait a few more hours before the HA plane resumed its course.
