Recently, a Macomb County sheriff stepped up in order to defend the medical personnel working at the Macomb County Jails against Jessica Preston’s allegation. The man declared that, as far as he is concerned, the staff acted according to the procedure, and that the woman’s condition was closely monitored. The Macomb County Sheriff said that the medical records kept at the jail could shed some light in the Preston case.
As you may recall, Jessica Preston accused Macomb County Jail’s staff of allowing her to deliver her baby in a filthy prison cell. In her testimony, the woman said that she asked the nurse for help on at least three separate occasions, and each time she was sent back to her cell. Preston also declared that even when she had blood on her leg the jail’s nurse ignored her.
The security camera mounted inside Preston’s cell shows how the woman was forced to give birth to her child on a filthy mattress. Also, the security footage also reveals that the nurse arrived only after the woman gave birth.
Although the evidence mounted against the Macomb County Jail is overwhelming, a sheriff from the same county comes to defend the jail’s personnel. During a press conference, the man declared that even though Preston was sent three times to her cell, the nurse remained in permanent contact with the detention facility’s physician, informing him about the progress of the woman’s pregnancy.
Moreover, the sheriff added that the jail’s medical personnel acted according to the procedure. He also stated that the soon-to-be-mother and her infant were never in any danger, as the hospital was only two minutes away from the detention center.
The sheriff voicing his doubts regarding the Preston case also stated that the jail kept minute medical records regarding the woman’s condition and they can prove, once and for all, that the nurse acted professionally in this case.
Meanwhile, Preston’s mother declared that her daughter has been severely mistreated during her time served at the Macomb County Jail and that the authorities should take the appropriate measures. She also stated that Preston’s child was prematurely born and that her daughter should have been taken to a medical facility when her contractions began.
At this moment, we don’t know for sure whether the authorities will take measures in the Preston case. What we know for sure is that a woman was forced to give birth in a filthy prison cell after being ignored by the medical personnel.
