On Tuesday, a video shows self-professed activist Cara Jennings yelling profanities at Gov. Rick Scott for failing to provide all low-income women in the state with free access to Medicare.
Ms. Jennings started her rants yelling an obscenity and accusing the Governor of cutting Medicaid so she could not get Obamacare. She added that the Republican governor has no consideration for ‘working people’ like herself, so he should be ashamed to show his face at Starbucks.
Gov. Scott reportedly entered the coffee shop at 5 p.m. Tuesday for a cup of coffee and relaxation but he got none. One of the customers filmed the entire scene and posted it on YouTube. As of Wednesday evening, the video accrued over 200,000 views.
After the incident, Gov. Scott told reporters he had no knowledge of the video and showed no intention to have a second encounter with Ms. Jennings to sort things out.
“She was not someone you could talk to,”
Jennings is a longtime activist in Lake Worth and a former city commissioner. She has been trying to send various messages to politicians since 2006. Among her favorite topics are feeding the homeless, ceasing hostilities in the Middle East, creating jobs for immigrants, and protecting the environment.
The woman said she was in Gainesville due to her work. On Tuesday, she bought a cup of coffee at Starbucks and sat down at a table to work on her laptop. She added that she didn’t recognize the governor when he entered the shop.
But when she did recognize him she slammed him for signing off a bill that bars abortion facilities from running on Medicaid money and puts heavier burdens on doctors working in such facilities.
She criticized Gov Scott for eliminating access to health services and access to birth control for economically disadvantaged women. Instead, Gov. Scott replied that he has created over 1 million of jobs since he was elected.
The woman scoffed at the idea and asked him who in that Starbucks had a ‘great job’ at the moment. The Governor replied that she should have one and left without having his coffee.

But the activist was also upset over Scott’s decision to cut funding for Planned Parenthood clinics. On various occasions, Scott said that he was a pro-life who believed in the sanctity of life. He added that Florida’s budget allocated more than $5 million for health-prevention services anyone can access from health departments.
