A two-year-old girl and her mother became quite popular on Facebook, shortly after the mother uploaded a post containing a conversation between her little girl and a Target employee, who asked her why did she choose to buy a black baby doll when they have countless other in the shop. The small girl’s reply was spectacular and comes to prove that, when it comes to kids, the color of the skin doesn’t really matter.
Brandi Benner and Nick, her husband, recently told Sophia, their 2-year-old daughter, that if she goes for one month straight to the potty, she will be able to pick out her own gift from Target. One month without any incidents went by, and Brandi decided to take her daughter to Target in order to buy her a gift.
Soon after they’ve arrived at the supermarket, the girl disappeared for a couple of minutes and came back with her prize – a black baby doll doctor. Brandi took Sophia to the cash register in order to pay for the doll.
However, upon reaching the counter, a Target employee asked the little girl if she was invited to someone’s birthday party. At that point, Sophia and her mother looked blankly towards the Target employee since they did not understand what she meant.
Growing more and more insistent, the Target employee asked Sophia if she intended to buy the black baby doll for one of her friends. Of course, both Sophia and her mother continued to stare blankly at the cashier.
Wanting to end the awkward conversion, Brandi told the Target cashier that the doll was her daughter’s prize for completing her potty training. The woman then turned towards Sophia and asked her if she really wanted that doll seeing that she doesn’t look like her.
The girl’s reply was truly magnificent. Looking into the woman’s eyes, Sophia told her that she really wanted that doll. When the cashier told Sophia that she looks nothing like her, the little girl replied that the baby doll looks exactly like her because she has pretty hair. In addition, the girl also pointed out that the baby doll wants to become a doctor just like her because she has a stethoscope around her neck.
Ultimately, the Target employee gave up on her attempt to change the girl’s mind. The whole conversation was recorded and posted on Facebook by Sophia’s mother.
